RAWALPINDI:- The Lahore High Court (LHC) expressed displeasure on the Anti-corruption Establishment Punjab for issuing the arrest warrant of Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and declaring him an absconder without any evidence.
Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah appeared in court along with his lawyers on the summons of LHC Rawalpindi Bench on Monday.
During the hearing, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan expressed his indignation at Additional DG Anti-Corruption and inquired about the evidence of the case against the Interior Minister.
The court remarked that Rana Sanaullah bought the plots from the housing society, he is the buyer of the plots and Instead of protecting the buyer, case has been filed against him.
The lawyer Anti-Corruption Punjab argued that the NOC of the housing society has not been issued. On which the court remarked that NOC has nothing to do with the case.
“It has been mentioned that Rana Sanaullah bought the plots by taking bribe, prove from whom Rana Sana took bribe,” added the court.
Furthermore, the court was also displeased over the non-appearance of the DG Anti-Corruption despite being summoned.
The honorable court stated that the Interior Minister’s arrest warrant was issued on the basis of false information provided in the case and he was made the most wanted absconder in the country without any evidence.
Later, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan adjourned the hearing of the case till October 28 and also directed DG Anti-Corruption Punjab to come with complete preparations including records in the next hearing.
Afterwards during a press conference in Islamabad, the Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said by-polls held on Sunday on 8 seats of National Assembly and 3 seats of Punjab Assembly were held in a free and fair manner.
He said this is a testimony to the fact that the institutions are fulfilling their responsibilities within the constitutional ambit.
He said the Election Commission of Pakistan especially deserves appreciation for conducting the by-polls in a responsible and impartial manner.
The Interior Minister said the PTI Chairman is resorting to baseless defamatory propaganda against the Chief Election Commissioner.
Rana Sanaullah Khan said if the PTI leadership wants us to accept the decision of their voters then they will also have to accept the decision of those who voted in favor of the PDM candidates. He said democratic posture warrants that results of free and fair elections are accepted.
Alluding to the votes polled in favor of PML (N) candidates in different constituencies, the Interior Minister said his party has secured more votes this time.
The Interior Minister said we have always rendered sacrifices for the cause of democracy and rule of law in the country. He said it was in the PTI era that we also faced fake cases.
Rana Sanaullah Khan said the general elections will be held on time and at that time, the PTI will not have the support of its provincial governments. He said the present government has taken difficult decisions and saved the country from default.
He expressed the commitment to reduce the price hike and provide relief to the common man.
