PPP invites MQM-P to join Sindh cabinet: sources

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party on Thursday invited the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan to join Sindh cabinet and offered them as many as two ministries, sources.

In a meeting held at the MQM-P’s Bahadurabad office it was decided that a high-level delegation of the MQM-P is expected to meet PPP Co-Chairpersons – Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari – in coming days.

In the meeting both sides discussed the draft document on local bodies presented by the MQM-P, moreover, the PPP has agreed to give the power of muncipal functions to councillors and has accepted a clause related to Provincial Finance Commisson.

Both the parties are in discussion on the prospect of giving all municpal powers under a Mayor.

In light of the agreement for supporting the no-confidence motion against ex-prime minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to reward Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) with three ministries in Sindh government and administratorships of two urban centres including Karachi.

Sources told Bol News that MQM-P will get ministries of information technology (IT), industry, and higher education in the provincial cabinet.

Meanwhile, PPP has also decided to remove Murtaza Wahab as the administrator of Karachi. Sources said that along with ministries, MQM-P will also get administratorships of Karachi and Hyderabad.

Besides this, PPP has also finalised the name of MQM-P’s Nasreen Jalil as the new governor of Sindh among the three names proposed by MQM-P. Sources said that PPP has formally informed MQM-P leadership regarding its decisions.
