Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that the talks of the early elections before November are merely speculations, however adding that the general elections are the only solution.

She was talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after the hearing on the appeals filed by her and her husband Captain (R) Safdar in the Avenfield reference.

Maryam Nawaz said the coalition government cannot deliver and take big decisions. The PML-N leader said that the only solution to the prevailing problems is the general elections.

She urged the nation to bring Nawaz Sharif back into power with a two-thirds majority whenever the general elections happen.

To a question, she said it is commendable that the Pakistan Army has decided to abstain from politics. However, PML-N leader said that only Imran Khan has problems with the constitutional role of the army.

She added that Imran Khan doesn’t have feet of his own and he needs support to survive in Pakistan’s political landscape. She claimed that Imran Khan’s political future has ended. “It suits him to make the institutions controversial,” Maryam said.

Responding to a question regarding Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed; of whom she has been quite critical and believes he was the one who brought Imran Khan to power through rigging in the 2018 elections, she replied that the chief of army staff (COAS) should be a person who is non-controversial, incompetent, and free of any allegations.

She also accused former information minister Fawad Chaudhry of rewarding his relatives with heavy salaries.

Further, she also said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) doesn’t have any evidence against her and her appeals are pending for almost a year.

She said NAB was seeking hearing of the case on a daily-basis when it was marionetted by the PTI government but it is now only dragging it.
