Dr Faisal Sultan confirms government closing NCOC

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has confirmed that the government is dissolving the National Command and Operation Centre.
The forum’s responsibility will be transferred to the Center for Disease Control at the National Institute of Health. These include releasing daily data on coronavirus cases etc.
“The transfer of NCOC might take a few weeks or even months,” Dr Sultan said, assuring that the centre won’t be immediately closed.
He briefed that the Centre for Disease Control will be authorised to develop an epidemic control strategy at the national level. Its responsibilities will include preparing strategies to deal with the rise in Covid-19 cases and issuing precautionary measures if required.
The CDC will, in future, work as a forum just like the NCOC, the SAPM added.
The move comes after Pakistan’s coronavirus graph plunged. The country has been reporting less than 10 daily fatalities from the virus. The daily number of cases have reduced as well.
In the last 24 hours, 462 new cases were reported nationwide while two people succumbed to the virus. The national positivity rate has, on the other hand, dropped below 2%.
